The picnic season is in the winter and dry season from October to April. The summer season particularly monsoon period may be avoided as it is difficult to trek the hill.  This is a place where various animals especially the elephants come to consume the soil.  Kalamati is its popular attraction as an orchid and butterfly habitat. Kalamati is a destination for lick soil which is next to the waters of Kanamakra River. Different types of herbs, including the medicinal ones are found in this area. Eco tourism has started to develop in the place, but the process of development is slow. In 2022 still the road condition is very bad . various animal are found in this are. This is a part of the Manas National Park and the nearest market place is Koilamoila, from where it is possible to reach here easily. Various animal lives in this place.


POPULAR THINGS TO DO & SEE

 

Kalamati is a perfect spot for spending a day amidst tall mountains and a rivulet running through the valley. Kalamati is a place well known for the fauna and flora of the area. A number of wild animals can be spotted in the forest. There are rare and endemic animals and birds such as the Asian elephant, Himalayan bear and the hornbill, among others. The hills around it the make for quite a majestic view . There are a few trekking paths in the area, and a number of treks are undertaken in each season. There are a number of unique spots nearby for nature lovers.  

 

How to reach KALAMATI

 You need to travel 40 km from Chapaguri (Bongaigaon)  town via Koila Moila Market . It would take around One and ahalfan hours from there. It consumes maximum time to reach Kalamati just from this point only for the bad road condition. Also, it’s better if you start the journey early in the morning so that you can spend maximum time in the spot.
